I've been eyeing this place for a long time now; some of my best friends are Jamaican and they got me HOOKED on their cuisine. That being said, I have pretty high standards now after being spoiled with such amazing home-cooked food, so I may or may not be a little biased...
My sister treated me to a Saturday afternoon lunch and there was no line when we arrived and were served right away. The girl behind the counter was nice enough, but didn't really explain any of their offerings unless we asked questions. That could make it hard to decide on a dish if you aren't familiar with Jamaican food, but at least she was patient to answer anything we weren't sure about, so it never hurts to ask.
We ended up sharing a large size brown stew chicken, which is typically one of my favorite Jamaican dishes, ordered with a side of rice and peas and potato salad. I wanted festival rather than potatoes, but they didn't have any for the day. Bummer! The girl serving us did offer to put extra gravy over our rice, which I've learned from friends is an absolute must at any proper Carribbean-owned establishment, and she delivered.
I was so, so excited to devour it all... but I may have hyped myself up too much because to be honest, I was a bit underwhelmed. The chicken was tender enough for the most part, although there were a few drier pieces. But even more disappointing was the lack in flavor that I've come to know and love brown stew for. Not to say that it was bad, per se. Perhaps it just varies depending on the chef and recipe; I've had meals with this dish before where I've literally wiped the plate clean! Sad to say that this one didn't do it for me. Even my sister who's never had brown stew chicken said she was expecting more flavor. The rice and peas were good, and the potato salad was also pretty average.
Overall, I'd say this spot is okay compared to some other places. I'd rate it 3.5 stars if I could. I know this review is only based on one main dish, but first impressions are everything! I'll give them the benefit of the doubt... for now. I live close enough that I might still consider coming back to try a few other dishes on their menu if I ever need a quick fix. Jamaican food is honestly one of my favorite cuisines. I wanted to LOVE this place, but this just might be the first time I've ever had a "meh" experience. -

I wanted to have a Jamaican lunch and I found this only one restaurant in West Miramar, Miramar Parkway. I ordered a Jerk Chicken, cabbage and fried plantain. I wanted the rice and beans so much but I had to restrain myself as I decided to cut on the carbs.
The chicken was delicious and the cabbage cooked and seasoned to perfection (next time, I will asked for the recipe ). The only thing that will not stop me coming back, price is above average for a take out restaurant. -

Was browsing online looking for a place to get some food and came across this place. Had been to that plaza before but never knew about. Decided to get some food from there and glad I did. Got the jerk pork and the portions were plenty and the price was worth it. Enough to fill me up and save some for the next day. Will definitely check them out again.

Initially went to pick up a package that UPS left there for me since they hold packages from them. While there I decided to order a large oxtail meal for my dad. I'm sorry I never checked the box before I left. Got home and opened it and there was only about 4 pieces of oxtail In it. The food itself tasted really good but come on if I'm paying for a large meal then at least hook it up. I could only imagine what the small meal looks like. I know oxtail is very expensive but this was very disappointing.
I'll stick to the other Jamaican restaurant down the street for now. -

Great ma/pa takeout spot in west Pines/Miramar area. Their food has been consistent, well prepared, and their jerk chicken has a sweet little tang to it which I LOVE. Great Caribbean addition to the suburbs.
